Testing for the Defence Industry per MIL-STD-810H

Basic information about the seminar

A one-day specialised seminar focused on the standards, methods and practical procedures used in testing equipment and components in the defence industry. Participants will gain an overview of the most widely used military, alliance and international standards (MIL-STD, STANAG, IEC) and will also become familiar in detail with the structure and logic of the MIL-STD-810H standard, which is the global standard for environmental testing of defence systems.

The course is intended for technical staff, developers, quality engineers, project managers, testing technicians and users who take part in the design, execution or evaluation of environmental tests in the defence sector.

Testing for the Defence Industry per MIL-STD-810H

What topics to look forward to

Overview of military and alliance standards

In the introductory theoretical part we will go through the key standards used in the defence industry. We will focus on MIL-STD, STANAG and IEC/EN standards and explain their differences, use and significance across the whole testing process.

Overview of equipment for the individual 810H tests

We will look at what laboratory technology is used for the most important MIL-STD-810H methods. We will cover climatic chambers for temperature and humidity tests, vibration systems, mechanical-shock equipment, corrosion chambers and equipment for ingress-protection and thermal-shock tests, and more.

Carrying out tests according to MIL-STD-810 in practice

We will show you the correct procedure for carrying out selected MIL-STD-810H methods. You will learn how to prepare samples, how to choose the right test parameters and how to ensure the test matches the real operating conditions of the equipment.

Practical demonstration of testing equipment for defence

We will get to know functional demonstrations of climatic, vibration and corrosion chambers. We will look at the practical aspects of working with the equipment, including correct clamping of samples, monitoring the course of tests and recommended maintenance procedures.

Seminar content

Overview of military and alliance standards

In the introductory theoretical part we will go through the most important standards used in testing equipment in the defence industry. We will focus on the US MIL-STD, alliance STANAG, European IEC/EN standards and other specialised standards. We will explain what types of tests they cover, how the individual documents differ and how the correct requirements for specific equipment are determined. This block will give you a solid foundation for navigating the normative environment of the defence sector.

Seminar content

Carrying out tests according to MIL-STD-810 and an overview of the necessary equipment

In the main part of the seminar we will show the practical execution of tests according to MIL-STD-810 and go through all the key test equipment needed for these tests. You will learn how to prepare samples for the individual methods, how to select the right test parameters and how to ensure the tests match real deployment conditions. Together we will look at a basic overview of test chambers for temperature and humidity tests, chambers for solar-radiation tests, vibration systems for random, sine and combined loads, corrosion chambers, thermal-shock chambers and more.
